Cancellation & Refund Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

This Cancellation & Refund Policy explains the circumstances in which an order placed with Solar Vidyut (“Solar Vidyut”, “we”, “us” or “our”) may be cancelled, returned, replaced or refunded.

This Policy should be read together with the quotation, order confirmation, warranty terms, Shipping & Delivery Policy and Terms & Conditions applicable to the order.

1. Requesting a Cancellation

To request cancellation, contact us as soon as possible at:

Email: info@solarvidyut.com
Phone/WhatsApp: +91 88820 05670

The request should include the customer’s name, contact number, quotation or order number and reason for cancellation.

A cancellation request is not effective until it has been acknowledged by Solar Vidyut in writing.

2. Cancellation Before Procurement or Customisation

An order may ordinarily be cancelled without a cancellation charge if we receive the request before:

  • Equipment has been ordered or reserved from a supplier;
  • Products have been dispatched;
  • Custom design, fabrication or configuration has begun;
  • Government, DISCOM or third-party applications have been submitted; and
  • A chargeable survey or other agreed service has been completed.

Any eligible payment will be refunded in accordance with Section 10 below.

3. Cancellation After Work or Procurement Has Begun

Solar systems are generally designed and procured according to the customer’s premises, electricity usage and technical requirements.

If cancellation is requested after procurement, customisation or project work has begun, the refund may be reduced by reasonable and documented costs already incurred specifically for the order, including:

  • Non-refundable supplier or manufacturer commitments;
  • Custom-design or fabrication costs;
  • Completed site surveys or professional services;
  • Transportation, handling or return-freight costs;
  • Government, DISCOM, lender or other third-party charges that cannot be recovered; and
  • Work already completed with the customer’s approval.

We will provide the customer with a cancellation calculation before processing the balance refund. No arbitrary cancellation charge will be imposed.

4. Cancellation After Dispatch or Delivery

Orders that have already been dispatched or delivered cannot ordinarily be cancelled for a change of mind.

If we agree to accept the return of a standard, unused product, the product must:

  • Be unused and uninstalled;
  • Be complete and in its original condition;
  • Include its packaging, manuals, accessories and serial-number labels; and
  • Pass inspection by Solar Vidyut or the relevant supplier.

Customised products, site-specific mounting structures, configured systems, installed equipment and products procured specially for the customer are not returnable merely because the customer changes their mind.

This restriction does not apply to products that are defective, damaged, incorrectly supplied or materially different from what was agreed.

5. Cancellation After Installation Begins

Once installation, electrical work, mounting or commissioning has begun, the project cannot ordinarily be cancelled for a change of mind.

If the customer stops the project at this stage, Solar Vidyut may charge for products supplied, work completed and reasonable non-recoverable commitments already made.

Equipment must not be removed or returned without our written authorisation. Any approved de-installation must be carried out by Solar Vidyut or an authorised professional to protect safety and applicable warranties.

6. Damaged, Defective, Missing or Incorrect Products

The customer should report visible transit damage, missing items or incorrect products within 48 hours of delivery.

The report should contain:

  • The order or quotation number;
  • A description of the issue;
  • Clear photographs or videos;
  • Photographs of the packaging and product labels; and
  • Any relevant delivery receipt.

For a defect that could not reasonably have been identified during delivery, the customer should contact us promptly after discovering it.

After assessment, Solar Vidyut may, as appropriate:

  • Supply a missing component;
  • Repair the product;
  • Replace the affected product;
  • Arrange an authorised return; or
  • Provide a full or proportionate refund.

The appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the issue, product condition, warranty terms and applicable law.

7. Warranty Claims

A technical problem arising after installation may be handled as a warranty or service claim rather than an order cancellation.

Solar panels, inverters, batteries and other components may carry separate manufacturer warranties. Solar Vidyut will provide reasonable assistance with valid warranty claims, subject to the relevant manufacturer’s terms.

A warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, unauthorised alteration or repair, accidents, external electrical faults, improper maintenance, natural events or failure to follow operating instructions, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

8. Delayed Orders

Delivery and installation dates may be affected by product availability, weather, site readiness, customer documentation and third-party or government approvals.

If Solar Vidyut expects a material delay, we will inform the customer and provide a revised estimate where reasonably possible.

Where the delayed portion has not been dispatched, customised or substantially performed, the customer may request cancellation of that portion. Any refund will be assessed according to the work completed and non-recoverable costs already incurred.

9. Cancellation by Solar Vidyut

Solar Vidyut may cancel or suspend an order if:

  • The product is unavailable;
  • The site is unsafe or technically unsuitable;
  • Required permissions or information cannot be obtained;
  • The customer does not make an agreed payment;
  • The order contains a material pricing or specification error; or
  • Fulfilment is prevented by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

If we cancel because we cannot supply the agreed product or service, we will refund the amount received for the unfulfilled portion. This will not affect charges for products already accepted, services already completed or recoverable third-party expenses expressly authorised by the customer.

10. Refund Processing

Once a refund is approved:

  • We will initiate it within 7–10 business days;
  • It will ordinarily be returned through the original payment method;
  • Bank, card issuer or payment-provider processing may require additional time; and
  • The customer may be asked to provide transaction or bank details where an original-method refund is unavailable.

Approved refunds will include applicable taxes corresponding to the refunded amount. Any lawful deduction will be explained to the customer.

Cash refunds will not ordinarily be issued for payments made electronically.

11. Financing, Subsidies and Government Payments

Cancellation of an order does not automatically cancel a loan, financing arrangement, subsidy application or government registration.

Customers must also contact the relevant lender or authority where required. Processing fees, interest, statutory charges and payments made directly to third parties are governed by their respective terms and may not be refundable by Solar Vidyut.

Solar Vidyut does not guarantee subsidy approval, the amount of any subsidy or the time taken by an authority to release it.

12. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits rights available to a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other applicable law.

Where a product is defective, a service is deficient or an order is materially different from what was agreed, the customer may be entitled to an appropriate remedy notwithstanding any change-of-mind restrictions in this Policy.
